"FLEDERHUND" ANNOUNCEMENT - SOFTCOVER BOOK IS DONE!
Great news everyone! We just got the first 15 copies of Flederhund! 52-pages of awesomeness, if I may say so myself.
We're so thrilled with these, and can't say THANK YOU enough to all of you! Once we get the remaining copies in, Jeff will begin our the perks for those of will be receiving copies of the book, proof prints, etc.
The EPUB, Android, and iOS apps are still under development, but we'll be shooting you out another email as soon as those are live.
Last, we were invited to share Flederhund at the Center City Literary Festival this Saturday, October 12th at the UNCC Center City Building from 12:00 - 3:00. This early afternoon program is geared towards children's literature and will be a really fun event with a 30' tall crane puppet, giant scrabble board and much more to entertain the kids (besides books, of course!)

Softcover Proof Print
We've been quiet, we know, but that's only because we've been hunkered down and cranking! Last night I submitted the files for our softcover proof print which will hopefully be in our hands by early next week. Our goal is to have finished books with us by October 12th (more on the significance of that date soon!)
Which means, dear, patient donors, that we'll be getting the perks out by the end of October (although the iPad App may not be available in the App Store until early November).
In the meantime, here's a picture of a boy seeing a cat about a dog.

Semester Winding Down --> Flederhund Cranking Up!
As our semester at UNC Charlotte begins to wrap up, we're getting ready for Quinn's 5th birthday. Jeff is vacuuming, I'm cleaning toilets, mom-in-law is probably packing, and Quinn is practically buzzing.
But my art-fingers are buzzing, too, ready and excited to throw myself into Flederhund and get this puppy rolling.
We've got Quinn signed up for lots of camps and have all the files set up and ready to go. We anticipate having the book part of the project complete around July and the interactive version live by October. Those of you who donated should start getting your perks pretty soon, but of course many will have to wait until the project is complete.
In the mean time, however, here's a drawing by Quinn of the airplane trip to Europe. He still talks about Central Europe and says he wants to next visit "Japan and the African Savannah". This is turning into a good opportunity to talk about saving money and geographic proximity in relation to flight times. But who knows... it's easy to already start thinking about sequels.

By my sleepy Sunday morning clock, we have 18 hours to go to raise just under $600!
We've raised over $6,500 so far and have been amazed and humbled by the support and encouragement for this project. Whether we make the goal or not, it's been an amazing process. Jeff and I feel very grateful for the wonderful folks in our lives and supporters of our work.
WE CAN DO THIS! This is an all-or-nothing grant, so we need to raise the full amount to get this project off the ground.

Funding Success
Thanks to the generous donations of many people, Flederhund received crowd-sourced and mathcing funds from USA Projects on February 17th, 2013. It was an amazing process and a bit of a nail-biter at the end, even! Donors will receive various perks for their donations as the project is completed, and by the end of the year, the digital and physical books will be completed!
